The purpose of the Music Ministry at First Baptist Mena is to lead the church in Spirit-filled worship through music. It is our goal to lead people into the presence of God, to have them respond to God in a way that causes them to make life-changing decisions, to develop in them a lifestyle of service and praise, and to provide musical education and performance opportunities for people of all ages -- children through adults.
To achieve this goal, we provide a graded choir program including the following:
for children ages four through kindergarten. The Preschool Choir is one activity in our Wednesday Vine After School program. The children learn simple Sunday School songs and choruses. They share in our Sunday morning worship service once each quarter.
for children in first grade through fourth grade. The Kid's Choir is one of the activities in which all the children who attend our Wednesday Vine After School program are involved. The children learn more advanced songs which helps them further develop musical skills. Traditionally, the choir has learned and shared a spring and Christmas musical. They also share in our Sunday morning worship service from time to time.
is open to teens and adults of varying degrees of talent and experience. Auditions are not required to become a part of this group. The one thing that we ask of members is that possess a sincere desire and commitment to use their gifts to worship God through music and help set a tone of worship in our Sunday morning worship services. Traditionally, the choir has shared special musicals at Easter, Independence Day, and Christmas. We also share special music in our morning worship services at various times throughout the year. The choir rehearses each Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. following our Wednesday Night Bible Study Service.
is open to adults
is open to teens and adults who play and instrument.
In addition to the opportunities to sing with our choir, we also have gifted individuals who share through solos and small ensembles in our morning worship services.
We have "Fifth Sunday Sing" evening services every month that has a fifth Sunday. Those in the congregation call out their favorite hymns to sing. We also invite anyone who would like to share in song, reading, or testimony.
You are invited to join us on a journey of faith, worship and praise. Together, we can communicate the eternal truths of God's Word as we glorify our Lord through music. We welcome people who have a love of music and a willingness to commit to a vital and dedicated music program.
