Candace Riner
Candace has been serving as Media Specialist & Children's Ministry Assistant at First Baptist Church Mena since August 1, 2017. Candace's desire is for God to be glorified and for people to grow in a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
At FBC Mena, Candace is the on-site coordinator for the Wednesday night Vine After School program and helps with other special events. She assists the Associate Pastor of Youth and Children in administrating all children’s programs and planning other activities. Candace is also the church office receptionist and is responsible for designing and producing all church publications, maintaining the church’s social media/internet presence and creating announcements and music slides for weekly worship services. Candace is also responsible for preparing, recording and updating Sunday School records, ordering Sunday School materials and doing bank deposits among other duties.
Candace is a native Arkansan. She grew up in the River Valley region where she has many fond childhood memories of the outdoors. Candace graduated from Dardanelle High School in 2000 and went on to obtain a Bachelor of Arts degree in Speech Communication from Arkansas Tech University in 2004. While in her first semester in college, a friend invited her to attend an evangelistic drama where she was exposed to the gospel and realized she was a sinner and placed her faith in Jesus. She began a new life in Christ at the age of 18. Candace grew in the Word through the discipleship of several loving friends who invited her to attend a campus ministry and other Christian events. While in college, Candace also attended First Baptist Russellville where she later took pre-marital counseling with her husband.
Candace has been married to her best friend Andy for over 16 years. Andy is a baker by night and Circuit Judge by day. As a couple they have walked the long, painful and sanctifying journey of infertility. Andy and Candace own a small farm, Sola Gratia Smallholding, LLC where they raise chickens, ducks, guineafowl, miniature cows, honeybees and fish. They serve in various areas of the community together and co-founded Created in His Image Ministries, a nonprofit organization whose purpose is to declare God's story and character as His image bearers. Candace loves to disciple girls and do girl's ministry. She has led Bible studies and camps through Beauty Boot Camp Training Academy for over 12 years.
Candace and Andy love Haiti missions and serve on the founding board of The Barnabas Partnership, also a nonprofit ministry, where they co-labor for the gospel with JoyHouse Ministries in Gressier, Haiti.
In their spare time they like to farm, travel, hike and bake for missions. They have an American English coonhound named Dolley and an orange tabby cat named Jean Clawed Perrin (A.K.A. Pear Pear). Candace's main goal in life is to know God and make Him known.
