Bro. Russell Threet has been serving as Senior Pastor at FBC Mena since September of 2015. Before coming to Mena, he served as the Senior Pastor of Chestnut Grove Baptist Church in Buckingham County, Virginia. He also previously served as the Youth and Children’s Pastor at Zion Baptist Church in Orange, Virginia. Bro. Russell is a native of Arkansas, living most of his life in the Jonesboro area.
Bro. Russell has been married to his wife Sarah since 2008. Together they have three sons: William Paul, Jack, and Luke. You will see Sarah around the church teaching the preschool Sunday School class, playing in the instrumental ensemble and handbell groups, and leading the Crochet Ministry. Sarah is also serving as the Executive Director of Fresh Start Pregnancy Resource Center here in Mena.
Bro. Russell is a graduate of Bellevue University where he earned a BS in Marketing Management. He holds both an MA in Christian Ministries and a Master of Divinity in Pastoral Ministries from Liberty University Baptist Theological Seminary. He also holds a Doctor of Practical Theology from Master’s International University of Divinity and is working on his Doctor of Ministry in Church Ministries from West Coast Bible College and Seminary.
Bro. Russell is certified as a biblical counselor through the International Association of Biblical Counselors and the Fellowship of Biblical Counselors. He is the director of Mena Biblical Counseling and Training Center and is passionate about training biblical counselors and helping others through counseling from a biblical perspective.
Bro. Russell leads FBC Mena first and foremost as a preacher. He says “My priority is preaching. I believe the best way for a pastor to fulfill his scriptural duty to equip the saints for the work of ministry is through sound expository preaching.” In his spare time, he enjoys reading and reviewing books, camping, and shooting.
